![]() ![]() I have not tried this because you can uninstall the pre-installed apps and I use a custom and open source launcher anyway. I don't know that HDR, AI upscaling works on those builds. I know there are some unofficial builds for LineageOS and such floating around. The shield doesn't come with a bunch of irrelevant nonsense that you can't get rid of like some samsung or lg phones do. FWIW you can uninstall these apps if you would like (which I did). The pre-installed apps differ depending on the region and are listed here but it largely includes stuff like netflix, plex, etc. It does come with some pre-installed apps. Most of the changes seem to have been made to add the Shield specific features (Ai upscaling, game streaming etc). To me it looks pretty close to android TV. Yeah, it comes with Nvidia's version of android TV. The Shield TV Pro 2019 has definitely been worth it. I know lots of people have had trouble with 9.0.2. It seems like many of the people on here who have trouble with the most recent update either have the Shield TV 2019 tube or have more complex set ups with a bunch of different plugins. I had different uses for the pi, and we needed an android tv box to watch sports on ESPN+ and whatnot. I don't know if I needed to mess around with transcoding settings or something. I have messed around with it a bit with Kodi / Jellyfin. Hulu sometimes is laggy but that seems to have more to do with Xfinity being really bad in my area.
